Balance The Back-To-School Boggle

New shoes, school supplies, teacher meet-and-greets, sports sign-ups, physicals, new routines. Before you know it, your calendar is packed and your wallet is wondering what happened.
The back-to-school season can be overwhelming. The best way to reduce overwhelm is by introducing balance. Balance your time, your bank account, even your meals—don’t forget to eat.
Balance isn’t something you find. It’s something you create.
With balance comes peace, which allows you to be open to joy and prepared for challenges.
So, how do we create balance? I start by writing everything down, prioritizing what truly matters, creating a budget, and planning my schedule before the chaos begins.
A few reminders: your child doesn’t need every school supply on day one, last year’s backpack or clothes may still have plenty of life left, and your phone is a great place to keep appointments, lists, and reminders. Remember to eat, drink water, and BREATHE!
Parents often spend so much time making sure everyone else is ready that they forget to take care of themselves. Skipping meals, running on caffeine, and living in survival mode doesn’t make you a better parent—it makes the season harder than it has to be.
Also, you don’t have to do things like anyone else. Focus on what is best for you and your household. No “keeping up with the Jones.”
Back-to-school season is busy, but childhood doesn’t slow down. Take the first-day pictures. Celebrate the little victories. Soak in the hugs while they’re freely given. One day you’ll blink, and you’ll be celebrating graduation.
Balance isn’t just about getting everything done. It’s about making sure you don’t miss what matters most.
